Facebook acquires content sharing site drop.io owned by Sam Lessin, a Longtime friend of Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, drop.io is a file(drop) exchange site, It allow users to share content privately in various ways. Users could create a drop and can share documents, videos, audio, pictures and other data files.
Facebook likes the way drop.io uses to share content and acquired it to use its developer's than its technology to develop the Facebook in drop's way.
Facebook said in a statement, " We can confirm that we recently completed a small talent acqisition for drop.io and acquired most of the company's assets. We're thrilled that Sam Lessin will be joining us."
And the drop.io said in it's blog post, " In the coming weeks, we’ll be winding down the drop.io service. As of this week, people will no longer be able to create new free drops, but you’ll be able to download content from existing drops until Dec. 15. Paid user accounts will still be available through Dec. 15 and paid users will be able to continue using the service normally. After Dec. 15, paid accounts will be discontinued as well.
